Baking technician at Lesaffre

Baking technician at Lesaffre Operating as an interface between Lesaffre and its baker clients, he proposes improvements of all kinds and handles the development of experimental protocols and equipment tests.

The baking technician carries out bread-making tests as part of the department’s research activities.  Playing a key role at the very heart of our organisation, the quality of his work has an impact upon the quality of the research and development work.  His role is that of an expert and of a representative of the company but he is also the client’s ambassador, with his role being decisive when it comes to deciding the direction that projects should take.  His expertise enables him to provide technical support to sales staff in their dealings with bakers the world over.

To occupy this post, the baking technician requires:

  • Training in the bakery trade (certificate of competency or vocational training certificate + technician’s diploma)
  • Key skills enabling him to carry out a bread-making test keeping precisely to a given protocol, to assess dough development, to calculate optimal moisture levels and mixing times, and to assess a dough (sensory aspects) or a loaf.

Research & development project manager
(yeast and health/nutrition)

Research and development  area managerOperating as a genuine technical adviser for our clients, it is in his capacity as an expert that he carries out his work in his particular area, including: genetics, fermentation, or production processes, etc.  The project manager uses his expertise and his skills to carry out the missions conferred upon him, to develop working techniques, or to assist the production sites and clients.  He supervises research and development projects.  His management role is a vital one, and he supervises his team ensuring that all necessary information useful to the performance of activities and knowledge of the workplace environment is passed on.  He also generates motivation by encouraging dialogue and contributing organisational, technical or human support in order to optimise performance levels while at the same time helping his staff to achieve their full potential.

To occupy this post, the research and development project manager requires:

  • A master’s-level engineering qualification (doctorate required for certain posts),
  • A thorough knowledge of technical English,
  • A thirst for scientific knowledge in order to fully master the specific aspects of the yeast business, in addition to the specific skills required in your chosen area, combined with a critical eye in order to analyse and interpret results and statistics using computerised resources,
  • Management experience.

The Technical Manager

The Technical ManagerThe technical manager implements the Group strategy in his business field and via his teams, carrying out activities aimed at improving general organisation, technical choices and management practices.  He coordinates production programmes in order to meet the needs of our clients, while at the same time optimising process management and handling organisational activities.  He represents the management on the various statutory bodies.  The technical manager has responsibility for the budget, which he draws up and implements, in addition to the programme of investments.  He consolidates and optimises all technical services and best practices.  He manages his team working closely with the departmental managers ensuring that all necessary information useful to the performance of activities and knowledge of the workplace environment is passed on. He should actively generate motivation by encouraging dialogue and contributing organisational, technical or human support in order to optimise performance levels while at the same time helping his staff to achieve their full potential.

To occupy this post, the technical manager requires:

  • Training in an engineering background
  • A high level of experience in various demanding areas of activity
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A thorough command of English, (if possible technical English)
