Purpose of the job
He is in charge of the product manufacturing. He has to optimize production:
- In terms of quality performances (make sure the products match the quality specifications),
- In terms of safety for the clients, the workers and the environment
- In terms of costs.
He is in charge of the yearly operating budget of the departments he is responsible of.
He is in charge of the management of new industrial projects such as:
• New product manufacturing
• New raw materials use
• Production capacity increase
Key areas of responsibilities
To achieve the mission given to him, he has at his disposal several departments he is responsible of:
• Production departments (fermentation, drying, packaging)
• Maintenance, utilities and new projects department
• Quality control department (laboratories)
• Waste water treatment department
His main task will be to make sure the organization implemented can fulfil the goals he has to meet. He will have to optimize and ease the work of departments that may have opposite constraints.
His strong expertise must allow him to find the good compromises and to be well respected by his staff.
He will report on regular basis to the general manager as for the performances of the production (percentage of product meeting the quality specifications on a given period), consumption ratios of a given period (ingredients, packing material and energies consumed par unit of product manufactured), environment issues, etc.
He is expected to propose to GM any new equipments or methods allowing a better production (cost savings, quality and safety): complete study including budget estimation, improvements expected and paybacks if any.
He will be strongly involved in any investigation related to customers complains. He will help the QA manager and the general manager in any decision concerning those complains.
He will have to establish the yearly budget of the departments he is responsible of and will be responsible of the follow up throughout they year.
He will be in close contact with Industrial Direction of LESAFFRE’s group.
He will also ensure that his team (laboratory, maintenance, utilities and waste water) will provide proper services to JV2. Therefore he will be in close contact with GM and Industrial manager of JV2.
Knowledge and educational level
- Bachelor’s degree as a minimum, master’s degree would be appreciated. Major in fermentation, biotechnology or food industry
- Strong experience in yeast production is required (5 to 10 years).
- Solid technical knowledge: biological production processes, heating exchanges, fluids mechanics, chillers system, boilers and steam production, industrial instruments
