The Masters de la Boulangerie 2018: Inspire today, Create tomorrow
Organized by Lesaffre, the competition of the Masters de la Boulangerie is a global contest which will be held during the Europain show (February 3rd to 6th). 18 candidates coming from all over the world will confront to win the title of World Master Baker. When the international bakery elite comes together
From 3rd to 6th February, during the Europain trade show in Villepinte (Paris), 18 candidates representing 14 different countries (France, USA, Russia, Taïwan, Brazil…) will try to win over the prestigious title of “World Master Baker”. This highly sought title is to this day held by only six bakers in the world!
The candidates compete in 3 specialties: Nutritional Bread Making, Gourmet Baking and Artistic Bread Making. They will be scored by a hand-picked jury whose aim is to select the best candidate in a specialty by evaluating the products according to exacting criteria.
A competition which is part of a complete four-year cycle of contests
Launched in 2010, the Masters de la Boulangerie competition, organized by Lesaffre, marks the final stage in a team competition cycle over three years, comprising the 2014-2015 Louis Lesaffre Cup and the 2016 Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie. On the 18 candidates of the competition, 12 have been selected on the basis of the best scores obtained in the previous competitions and 6 have been chosen for their promising potential. During the Masters de la Boulangerie, the candidates will compete individually, supported by their own coach.
Showcase creativity to inspire and imagine tomorrow’s bakery profession
This year, the new orientation of the competition is tomorrow’s bakery with the motto “Inspire today, Create tomorrow”. The candidates will demonstrate – in addition to their rigour, their professionalism and know-how – their capacity to innovate and surprise. The Masters de la Boulangerie is a competition with a real spirit, based on transfer and on the values of the bakery profession.
Thus the World Master Baker has for mission to pass on its know-how and to defend the job of baker, while making it evolve. With this wealth of qualities, the 2018 World Master Baker is a pioneering opinion leader and a source of inspiration.
