The Digital Communication Officer (DCO) oversees all marketing content initiatives, across multiple platforms and formats to drive sales, engagement, retention, leads and positive consumer behaviour. This individual is an expert in all things related to content and search engine optimization, brand consistency, segmentation and localization, analytics and meaningful measurement.
The position is part of the communications department within the Strategy department and collaborates with the departments of sales & technical support and corporate IT to help define both the tools and brand story. Ultimately, the job of the DCO is to think like a journalist, leading the development of content initiatives in all forms to drive new and current business. He / she is responsible for implementing the company’s digital strategy in order to increase brand awareness, increase traffic, improve marketing efforts and ultimately increase sales.
This includes:
• Establishing best practices and work flow processes for producing, distributing, promoting, measuring, and retiring content. This includes ensuring all content is consistent in terms of tone of voice style and is optimized for search and user-experience across all appropriate channels with the right key words,
• Manage and oversee social media content and community, set up a social media calendar,
• Create , implement and follow up inbound marketing campaigns,
• Motivate writers, editors, content strategists; be an arbiter of best practices in grammar, messaging, writing, and style,
• Manage the corporate website and its back office, be a master in WordPress,
• Creation of short stop motion videos for use on social media.
This should result in:
• An increase in defined customer engagement metrics,
• Website and social media traffic growth,
• Increase in key search engine keyword rankings.

Profile and general abilities Experience and education required:
. Fluent in English,
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public relations or related communications field,
• Expertise in all major software applications including WordPress,
• Experienced 1 to 3 years in digital communication.
Skills required:
An effective DCO must be able to balance a customer-first marketing mentality with the story focused mindset of a publisher, while serving as a performance driver, and champion of the overall brand experience with content.
Specific skills required include:
• Understanding of search engine optimization including best practices and current trends,
• Proven editorial skills. Outstanding command of the English language,
• Skill at both long-form content creation (e.g. articles, ebooks) and real-time (immediate e.g. video, twitter) content creation and distribution strategies and tactics,
• Intellectual curiosity and a passion for staying on top of the latest innovations and trends.
