What will your daily life look like?

As a scientist you will integrate Nutrition Microbiota and Heath Center of Excellence and report to the head of skin health research. Based on your expertise and collaboration opportunities within the R&D Team, you will implement imaging techniques to explore plausible mechanisms of actions and support substantiation of our products coupling cellular models with automated imaging to study microorganism-based solutions and their derivates.

Additionally, your mission will also consist of implementing high content imaging-based screening approaches to identify new bioactive and feed the innovation pipe of cosmetics, human and animal health Business units of Lesaffre.

As a skilled automated imaging engineer, you will oversee the set-up of a newly acquired High-Content Imaging (HCI) device, supervise its maintenance, develop and validate cellular assays in collaboration with other team members and project managers. While working closely with the other scientists in the R&D Team, you will promote this new technology and support new users with ad hoc assistance in assay development, training and troubleshooting sessions.  

Key responsibilities

  • Supervision of the installation, use and maintenance of HCI device
  • Define the safe and best practices in the facility with up-to-date Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Methods & Protocols (MP)
  • Be involved in the laboratory daily life in compliance with existing HSE rules
  • Develop, optimize and validate cellular assay protocols in epifluorescence, confocal and phase contrast settings, alone and in close collaboration with biologists
  • Carry out experiments independently (2D and 3D cell culture, molecular biology and imaging assays)
  • Ensure data acquisition, management and quality control with Biodata team support
  • Collaborate with Biodata team to test software and develop relevant analysis strategies
  • Support project teams and work package execution on-time
  • Train and supervise the user community, promote and develop the facility
  • Communicate and share results or issues with team members and stakeholders
  • Propose and develop new screening assays with high-quality track-record (electronic lab-book, internal reports etc…)

Make a personal impact
That makes you the ideal candidate

  • PhD in cell biology, biotechnology or related field with strong background in cell-based assays
  • 3-5 years track-record experience in the configuration and management of an automated microscope for high content imaging in academia or in industry
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • A high sense of collaboration and at ease with training people
  • Structured, rigorous and precise approach, together with scientific curiosity
  • Good Problem-solving skills and do-it yourself mindset are required
  • Experience in histology and programming are a plus
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) is desired, other languages are a plus
