What will your daily life look like?
Our Mission: Build and operate the first integrated industrial biofoundry in France to deliver to Lesaffre’s Mission of Working together to better nourish and protect the planet
Our Scope: We engineer, screen, select yeast and bacteria for industrial biotechnology applications including baking, brewing, bioethanol, flavors and fragrances, nutraceuticals, food and feed, pharmaceuticals
As part of a replacement of maternity leave ( replacement of 8 months), your mission:
Responsibilities
· Design high-throughput experiments that leverage a biofoundry approach
· Support organism engineering at Lesaffre both in GMO and non-GMO areas with technical expertise in yeast genetics and synthetic biology
· Collaborate with stakeholders, create next-generation synthetic biology tools — e.g. algorithms, data structures, predictive models, software pipelines, or experimental protocols to improve organism engineering at Lesaffre
· Independently troubleshoot technically complex problems, and propose solutions or experimental plans to resolve or correct for them
· Maintain high-quality documentation of your work and discoveries, in the forms of written reports, technical presentations, electronic lab notebooks, internal database records, code comments, and software documentation
Make a personal impact
That makes you the ideal candidate
· PhD or equivalent experience in genetics, genomics, systems biology, biochemistry, computational biology, quantitative biology, or another relevant field. Interdisciplinary work is strongly encouraged
· 4+ years of post-PhD professional experience engineering yeasts. Additional organisms are a bonus, but not required
· Facility with programming in at least one language (Python preferred). Experience with best practices for collaborative software development (version control systems, test-driven development, good documentation habits) are strongly preferred
· First-hand technical experience in at least two of the following areas: bioinformatics; sequence analysis; NGS analysis; synthetic biology; metabolic engineering
· Demonstrated ability to meet the demands of multiple concurrent projects
· Strong curiosity of, and comfort working in, areas of biology previously unknown to you and, at times, your peers
