Gnosis by Lesaffre is recruiting a Formulation & Process Scientist to join its Research and Application department. You will report to the Formulation Platform Team Leader.
Within the Formulation Platform of Gnosis by Lesaffre, you are working in one of the two laboratories composing the Platform (in Marcq-en-Baroeul, France). You also work in strong connection with the part of the team located in Desio, Italy.
Thanks to preformulation work and analytical approach, you acquire required technical knowledge on the intrinsic characteristics of the ingredients of our portfolio and products in development.
You develop concepts, semi-finished and finished products in the field of functional food at lab, pilot and industrial scales, internally and with external partners (technical centers, CMOs…).
You manage small batches at laboratory and pilot scale. You support the scale up of the processes developed in the laboratory / pilot and the transfer of technology to production sites.
Thanks to your expertise in food processes, you are able to understand and explain the impact of different parameters of the process on the ingredient and the product. You are able to fine-tune and reach the target and to explore alternative options. You are proactive in monitoring your environment (publications, patents) and you are able to push new ideas.
You are strongly involved in the Formulation Platform operations. Within the multicultural team, you contribute to operational and safety procedures writing and follow-up, equipment calibrations, CAPEX purchase procedure, good management of consumable stocks, respect of safety procedure and Sanitary Master Plan. You are especially in charge of predictive and curative maintenance actions for process equipment.
The management of technicians and junior scientists or trainees could be part of your missions according to the evolution of the team.
You show abilities in project management skills and could act as a project manager or a work package leader depending on the statement and organization of the projects.
- Education: Master’s Degree in Engineering Biology, Biotechnology, Process Engineering and Bioprocess or Agri-food Sciences.
- At least 5 years’ experience in formulation and application work in the food industry.
- Technical expertise in food processes. A first experience in extrusion would be appreciated.
- Ability to operate with laboratory and pilot equipment.
- Good communication skills, written and verbal, in English.
