The job is based in the all-new Fermentis Campus located in Marquette-lez-Lille (59 – Nord) in northern France. The site will be up-and-running in April 2022. On site, a new expertise centre dedicated to applied research and education, called the “Fermentis Academy”, will include a technical hall with a state-of-the-art pilot brewery designed for Fermentis, with amongst other a brewhouse and over 50 cutting-edge fermenters.
Under the responsibility of the Fermentis Academy Manager, we are recruiting a Head Brewer whose main task will be to ensure the performance of the production unit, from the programming to the daily use, and respecting the production schedule.
You’ll be in charge of:
– Managing production according to the defined schedule, up to the packaging (bottles, kegs, oak barrels,…),
– Helping in the creation of recipes,
– Ensuring the cleaning and maintenance of the production unit and installations,
– Managing stock of end product and traceability, as well as a set of oak barrels,
– Overseeing the supply of raw materials according to the schedule and manage their storage,
– Compiling budget (CAPEX & OPEX) and monitor & manage expenses in line with budget,
– Helping in the creation of training tools and/or presentations,
– Writing procedures (SOP’s – production, cleaning, maintenance, stocks management,…),
You respect and enforce safety rules.
You are responsible for the food-standard safety and quality of the products produced.
You will be required to give presentations and participate at team events and international trade shows.
You’ll be accompanied by an assistant brewer who you’ll manage and will be expected to help him grow and develop over time.
Agricultural engineer or equivalent, ideally completed by a brewing engineer degree. You have over 10 years of experience as an industrial or craft brewer. You’ve ‘mastered the art’ of brewing, which is a skill you are passionate about. You’re in good physical shape (load carrying, cleaning of installations, …).
You speak fluent English.
Organised, rigorous and flexible, you are uncompromising on safety and quality.
Naturally curious and open, you like to communicate and share your passion and knowledge orally and in writing (PowerPoint Presentations). Working in project mode helps you manage schedules, resources, stocks and deliver according to deadlines.
