What will your daily life look like?

The Lesaffre Institute for Science and Technology (LIST) seeks a Bioinformatician for 5 months to support and improve the operational excellence of its Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) platform for the analysis of transcriptomics RNA-SEQ data.

As a Bioinformatician, you will join the Computation and Artificial Intelligence for Biology team, which is part of the BioData Center of Excellence. Our mission is to accelerate the development of Lesaffre products by leveraging multi-omics data and artificial intelligence. Our expertise spans diverse domains such as bioinformatics, comparative genomics and transcriptomics, metabolic engineering, high-dimensional statistics and machine/deep learning. We act as an innovation enabler and catalyst, working in close collaborations with the various Business Units of Lesaffre and the other LIST Centers of Excellence, on a great variety of projects.

Missions:

Your role will be to:

  • Consolidate existing bioinformatics pipelines dedicated to the processing and analysis of RNA-SEQ data.
  • Improve their integration and deployment in the routine workflow of the NGS platform and ensure full traceability within the LIMS of the company.
  • Work in close collaboration with wet-lab teams to define quality control procedures and develop associated user-friendly monitoring tools.
  • Set up a central repository of historical data to assess the impact of technical factors on signal variability and evaluate the relevance of batch effects correction methods.
  • Validate and valorize the methods and tools developed in an actual transcriptomics study lead within a current R&D project.

For this position, we require:

  • A PhD or a Master degree in the field of bioinformatics or computational biology.
  • Strong expertise in analyzing NGS data, and ideally RNA-SEQ data.
  • Good programming and development skills (R, Python, Unix / bash, Git, AWS, DevOps).
  • Prior experience in statistical modeling and data visualization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Curiosity and team spirit.
  • Fluency in English & French.

Prior experience in the following domains would be considered a plus:

  • Microbial genomics
  • Industrial fermentation applications.
