Job description

As a member of the R&D team at the Nutrition Microbiota and Health Center of Excellence, you will be involved in a setting up a model of cellular senescence and measuring related cellular parameters, in particular mitochondrial stress, for skin health applications.

After appropriate training within the cosmetic team, you are expected to carry out technical and bibliographical research at the R&D laboratories in Marcq-en-Barœul, and as such you will:

  • Study bibliography on the subject
  • Culture human skin cells (fibroblasts, keratinocytes) in vitro
  • Induce senescence with pharmacological compounds or study replicative senescence
  • Confirm the senescent phenotype of the cells by studying multiple parameters and using different techniques (qPCR, ELISA assays, immunofluorescence)
  • Study the related mitochondrial stress parameters
  • Analyze the data and provide a “senescence card” of skin cells to be tested in-house
  • Test some Lesaffre’s products to study their impact on the senescence of skin cells
  • Document your experiments in an electronic lab book
  • Formalize the lab work by writing method protocols, presenting your results to the team, writing a report about your results
  • Participate to the daily life of the laboratories (stock management, lab cleaning tasks…)

Qualifications

Education

You will be preparing a master’s degree or an engineer diploma in biology, biotechnology or skin health (“Bac +5”) in 2024-2025 and you are aware of good laboratory practices. A first experience in cell culture and/or senescence studies would be a plus (not mandatory).

Skills

Attracted to the world of R&D, you are naturally curious and well organized. You demonstrate autonomy, have a knack for synthesis, and your communication skills allow you to share scientific information with members of the team. You will interact with non-French-speaking colleagues, so a good command of English is required.
