Job description

In the context of a maternity leave replacement, we are looking for a R&D scientist in purification process development. Within the Center of Excellence Downstream Process Design belonging to the Lesaffre Institute of Science and Technology, and directly reporting to the Purification Process Team Manager, you will be responsible for developing processes for extraction and purification of compounds of interests at lab and pilot scale in collaboration with the Purification Process team (8 persons). Your role will be also to study and optimize process parameters for the development of new products or improvement of existing products.

As R&D scientist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and carrying out experimental plans for your projects.
  • Conducting technological and scientific review on the project to provide a comprehensive state of the art and identify innovations that the project could benefit from.
  • Assessing project feasibility and serving as a technical referent for the project you are involved in.
  • Supporting team activities related to the development and optimization of extraction and purification processes at both lab and pilot scale.
  • Providing technical solutions for projects related to team’s activities.
  • Synthesizing and writing activity reports for your projects.

Qualifications

Profile: Master or engineering degree (Bac + 5) in process engineering / chemical engineering applied to fermentation biotechnology and/or the agri-food industry. A first experience in a similar position would be appreciated.  

You have in-depth technical skills in extractions and purifications processes at lab and pilot scale. Your ability to synthetize information and your writing skills are recognized. You are fluent in English.

You demonstrate scientific rigor, autonomy and critical thinking in carrying out your work. You are also recognized for your agility, dynamism, your team spirit and your ability to make proposals. Finally, you have a good ability to adapt to evolving technical environments and you have the capacity to work in a cross-functional team in a multidisciplinary context.
