Lesaffre commits to education with ECHO!

Education is the foundation of development in communities. In addition to food/nutrition and the environment, which resonate directly with our mission of "Working together to better nourish and protect the planet", education is one of ECHO's 3 criteria to guide us in our choice of projects. For us, this criterion is essential if we are to fully play our role as a responsible economic player in our local environment.
Lesaffre commits to education with ECHO!

Education is a major foundation for the development of communities, the key that opens the doors to a better future and gives people the opportunity to meet their future needs in good conditions.
Present in 50 countries around the world, we are fortunate to have the local presence needed to provide the best possible support to populations who do not always have the means to provide a decent education for their children. Our commitment to associations and schools gives many children of all ages access to education.

In many of our subsidiaries, our collaborators have chosen this solidarity-based approach, which complements the numerous baking training courses organized by the Baking CenterTM network.

Here are just a few examples.

Giving a future to 30 children in Dak Nong by supporting Maison Chance association Giving a future to 30 children in Dak Nong by supporting Maison Chance association

In Dak Nong, a province of Vietnam where ethnic groups are often left on the bangs of the country’s economic society, the elementary school of the Maison Chance Social Center opens its doors to orphans and children from disadvantaged families in the region.  Since 2022, as part of the ECHO program, SafViet, our Lesaffre subsidiary in Vietnam, has been supporting a class of 30 pupils to follow them throughout their schooling. Funds are used for accommodation and food, educational equipment and teachers’ salaries. This support will last for the duration of their studies.

The Don Bosco house welcomes street children to provide them with housing, education, medical support, and to enable them to develop. In our desire to get involved in the local economic life, we accompany this orphanage in its educational mission alongside street children over 3 years with the New Project ECHO Fund.  We are engaged since 2020 with Don Bosco house. And today, we maintain our relationship with those children: some of our collaborators act as mentors to these young people.

In Morocco

Promoting education for young children in rural areas. Promoting education for young children in rural areas.

In Morocco’s rural areas, children are often withdrawn from school at a very young age to help out in the countryside or at home. To fight against this phenomenon, for the past 15 years Lesaffre has been committed to supporting the families of children in 3 schools by supplying them with flour and yeast to make loaves, the staple of their diet. The deal is simple: monthly supply of these products if the children attend school. And it works …. Today, more than 450 children benefit from this program every year, and the school drop-out rate has been zero for years.
